AIQ Challenge ยท Grades 1โ12
The World Has Changed. Shouldnโt Olympiads Change Too?
Introducing the Glimmers AIQ Challenge, India's Human + AI Intelligence Olympiad for Grades 1โ12.
Not just AI. Not just coding. Not another academic Olympiad. AIQ challenges students to think, create, solve, collaborate and apply, while learning to use AI intelligently and responsibly.

What makes AIQ different
An Olympiad with no syllabus to memorise
It does not test recall
There is no syllabus to memorise and no past-paper pattern to drill. A child cannot prepare by learning answers, because the challenges are not built around answers that already exist.
AI is allowed, and assessed
Most competitions ban AI and hope. AIQ treats using it well as part of the skill: knowing what to ask, spotting when the answer is wrong, and deciding when not to use it at all.
It rewards reasoning, not speed
Children are asked to show how they arrived somewhere. A well-argued route to an imperfect answer is worth more than a lucky correct one.
It is built for Grades 1 to 12
The capabilities stay constant across the whole range; what changes is the form the challenge takes. A seven-year-old and a seventeen-year-old are asked the same kind of question, pitched very differently.
What is assessed
Seven capabilities, not seven subjects
The same capabilities Glimmers Labs build. Here they are put under pressure in unfamiliar territory.
Critical Thinking
Decides what information actually matters in an unfamiliar problem, and what can be set aside.
Creativity
Produces a response nobody prescribed, then improves it rather than defending the first attempt.
Emotional Intelligence
Reads a situation involving other people and responds to what is actually going on in it.
Communication & Collaboration
Makes a case clearly enough that someone who disagrees can engage with it.
Entrepreneurship
Finds the need inside a messy scenario and shapes something that answers it.
AI & Digital Literacy
Uses AI tools with judgement, and can say where they helped and where they misled.
Real-World Application
Transfers thinking practised in one setting to a problem that looks nothing like it.
Grade categories
Six bands, one set of capabilities
The questions change shape across the range. What is being looked for does not.
Rules & integrity
Where AI is allowed, and where the line is
Stated plainly, because a competition that is vague about this is not worth entering.
- AI tools are permitted where a challenge says so, and their use is part of what is assessed, not a workaround to be hidden.
- Work submitted must be the child's own thinking. Using AI to produce an answer the child cannot explain defeats the point of entering.
- Adults may help a child understand a question. They may not help answer it.
- Every participating child and guardian agrees to the integrity policy at registration.
Our full position on children and AI is in the AI Use Policy.

Questions
What parents ask about AIQ
What actually is the AIQ Challenge?
A competition for Grades 1โ12 that assesses how a child thinks rather than what they have memorised, including how well they use AI tools as part of solving a problem.
How is it different from other Olympiads?
Other Olympiads test a subject: mathematics, science, English. AIQ has no subject. It presents unfamiliar problems and assesses reasoning, creativity, collaboration and judgement.
Is AI allowed?
Where a challenge permits it, yes, and using it well is part of what is assessed. Submitting an AI-produced answer a child cannot explain defeats the purpose of entering.
Does my child need to code?
No. There is no programming requirement at any grade level.
Do we need to be Glimmers App or Labs users to enter?
No. The AIQ Challenge is open to any eligible student, whether or not they use anything else from Glimmers.
When does registration open, and what does it cost?
Dates, fees and refund terms will appear on this page as soon as they are confirmed. Join the list and we will tell you directly rather than leaving you to check back.
Can our school run the AIQ Challenge?
Yes. Schools can host the Challenge for their students, with registration and invigilation handled together with the Glimmers team.
